Top 10 tips for a healthy metabolism is a continuation of a previous blog where Dr Simoné’ explained how to determine your basal metabolic rate (BMR) and unpacked the science behind the metabolic function. At Rejuv we’re committed to helping you to live lean with minimal pain!

Here are her top ten tips for how to have a healthy metabolism…

1. Alkalise and keep acid wastes in check

Alkalise by keeping your acid wastes in check all of the 11 systems of your body will be functioning correctly having a wonderfully positive effect on your metabolism. Eat more plants & less animals & to fast track your life add in a super greens powder that not only alkalises but also supports all the 11 systems of your body including; the digestive, nervous, endocrine, skeletal, muscular, cardiac, respiratory, circulatory, immune, integumentary (hair, skin & nails) & excretory systems. Such a super greens powder is The Super Elixir & you only need 2 teaspoons per day.

2. Add tea, spice & herb to warm up and boost your metabolism

Thermogenic – try to warm your system up & therefore boost your metabolism by eating more chilli, cayenne pepper, garlic, ginger & green tea. Try the Rejuv Thermo Metabolic Support to make it easy.

3. Do interval training to give your metabolism a kick

Interval training – it is not enough just to go for a walk if you really want to give your metabolism a good kick. Instead, try doing intervals from medium to very hard such as walk for 4 minutes & sprint for 1 minute & sustain this for 40-45 minutes.

4. Cut the sugar to kill candida & fungus for optimum metabolism

Kill the candida by cutting our sugar- as per the previous blog you need to clear out the candida & fungus which will allow your metabolism to function at optimum.

5. Eat clean, add more fish and avocado

Eat clean, up your fish protein & good fats such as avocado & keep your treats to weekends. This will keep your metabolism in check but also allow you to psychologically stay string during the week knowing that you will be rewarded on the weekend. Since we win the game in the mind the best is balance over abstinence.

6. Use the Mifflin St Jeer formula

Determine your BMR with the Mifflin St Jeer formula* (see the previous post) so you know where to start from.

7. Start with a drink

Start your day with a kick by having a pint of water plus the juice of 1/2 a lemon, half teaspoon of grated ginger & 1-2 pinches of cayenne pepper.

8. Stay hydrated

Hydrate – you are made up of around 100 trillion cells & if you drink 2-3L filtered water per day your cells will be like big fat healthy grapes instead of shrivelled up raisins, allowing goodness to flow in & junk to be removed. This takes the pressure off all the systems of the body, thus boosting your metabolism

9. Chew your food, drink less and eat slower

Help your gut – sounds obvious but chew your food around 20 times per mouthful to support digestion & reduce stagnation. This will also help you feel full for it takes about 20minutes for your gut to speak to your brain to say you are full and many overeat not giving their brain time to read how full you are. Limit liquids to maximum 200ml per meal to not dilute your stomach acids.

10. Add more herbs

Boost your metabolism with herbs – if you know you have a sluggish metabolism & for the amount you eat and exercise your body fat levels are too high you may need some metabolic support. At Rejuv I have formulated a whole range of products with 6 products out of my range for metabolic support to accelerate fat loss, support digestion and to reduce appetite.
