Fresh Fish Recipe

Because of the Easter Holidays and many of us having our kids at home on school holidays, I want to share a fast and delicious recipe. I find baked fish so easy, and I love Sea Bass or Sea Bream, for they are the perfect size to feed two people each.

Fresh fish is high in essential amino acids and minerals such as potassium, selenium and magnesium, helping to balance all of your 11 systems.

I always prefer small, wild, line-caught fish, and the smaller, the better to reduce heavy metals. Eat your fish with some dark green leafy greens to mop up mercury, such as spinach, kale, or collard greens. Fish is easy to digest, therefore helping to keep your blood sugar levels balanced.

With potential chocolate bunnies and Easter festivities on their way, it is wise to keep your protein levels up so one Easter egg doesn’t turn into five or a choccy egg binge.

A great way to also combat sugar and chocolate cravings is to have a vegan chocolate shake for it’s very filling with the prebiotics and a yummy creamy chocolate taste.

I don’t leave my blood sugar levels to chance. Hence, I always choose a good protein source for each meal, including fish, organic eggs, nuts, seeds, vegan yoghurt, organic kefir, lentils, black beans or a Rejuv or WelleCo Vegan protein powder.

I serve my baked fish with a mixed salad with lots of green leaves like watercress, rocket or baby spinach with avocado or stir fry of yummy green vegetables such as courgette, broccoli, spinach, sugar snap peas and green beans. I often add pumpkin & sunflower seeds to my salads and stir fry.

Fresh Herb & Orange Infused Sea Bass

Fresh Fish Recipe

  • 1 Sea Bass or Sea Bream to serve two people
  • One blood orange, cut into thin wedges
  • 1/2 bulb peeled garlic cloves (so around 4-5 cloves- you can use less, but I love garlic)
  • ½ red onion, sliced
  • One large yellow pepper, cut into thin strips
  • One handful of cherry tomatoes, cut in half
  • One handful of chopped parsley & coriander
  • Two teaspoons of sesame seeds & flaxseeds
  • Light olive oil for cooking
  • Sea Salt, Pepper, mixed Italian herbs and dried chilli flakes

Instructions

  1. Drizzle olive oil on the bottom of a shallow baking glass or porcelain dish (no aluminium or non-stick trays)
  2. Place the fresh fish onto the dish.
  3. Season with sea salt, pepper, mixed Italian herbs & chilli flakes
  4. Stuff the inside of the fish with the onion, cherry tomatoes, yellow pepper, coriander, parsley, garlic and blood orange.
  5. Scatter the rest of the ingredients on top of the fish with the sesame & flax seeds.
  6. Douse everything again with light olive oil!
  7. Bake uncovered at 180 degrees Celcius for 20 minutes or until the fish is done according to thickness.
