The holidays often bring joy, laughter, and a little too much indulgence. From decadent desserts to heavy meals and extra glasses of wine, your body may now feel sluggish, bloated, or low in energy. That's your system's way of telling you it's time for a reset.
My birthday month is August, so I always let my hair down during this time, and I've just returned from my holidays. I'm now planning my cleanse, which starts in a few days.
I begin slowly the first week by going pesca-vegan, drinking 2–3L of our Rejuv Detox Water, and laying off alcohol, coffee, sugar, and dairy to give my body a chance to cleanse. I also include our Rejuv Liver Support Capsules to support my detox pathways. As the month progresses, I ramp up my cleanse — more on that next week.
A post-holiday cleanse doesn't need to be complicated. By adding more salads, vegetables, and targeted herbs into your meals, you can naturally restore balance, reduce inflammation, and boost energy levels.
Why Salads & Vegetables Are Your Reset Superheroes
When you shift your plate toward more raw and lightly cooked vegetables, you:
- Support detoxification: Leafy greens such as spinach, rocket, and kale contain chlorophyll that helps neutralise toxins.
- Feed your gut microbiome: High-fibre veggies fuel beneficial bacteria, supporting digestion and immunity.
- Restore balance: After sugar, alcohol, and processed holiday foods, alkaline-forming vegetables help reduce acidity and inflammation.
- Boost hydration: Veggies like cucumber, celery, and lettuce are rich in water and electrolytes.
Think of salads and vegetables not as side dishes, but as the foundation of your post-holiday meals.
7 Plants for a Natural Post-Holiday Liver Detox
Alongside vegetables, certain herbs can stimulate detox pathways and ease the burden on your liver and kidneys:
- Burdock root: Protects and regenerates liver cells.
- Dandelion Root & Leaf: Supports liver detox and reduces bloating.
- Turmeric: Potent anti-inflammatory that enhances bile flow.
- Garlic (black aged garlic in particular): Increases glutathione levels — the body's master antioxidant produced in the liver.
- Parsley: Natural diuretic that flushes excess water, supports the kidneys, and helps mobilise heavy metals from tissues.
- Artichoke: Rich in antioxidants like cynarin and chlorogenic acid, which protect liver cells.
- Beetroot: Betalains nourish, energise, and protect the liver by boosting antioxidants, stimulating bile, and reducing fat buildup.
All seven of these powerful plants are included in our Liver Support Capsules, which support your body's natural cleansing pathways.
In addition, I include a combination of herbal extracts and vitamins to amplify their effects:
- Choline and Biotin: Support fat metabolism and help prevent fatty liver buildup.
- Liquorice root: Soothes and protects liver tissue.
- Cayenne pepper and Ginger root: Enhance circulation and digestion, allowing nutrients and detox compounds to reach the liver efficiently.
- Fennel seeds: Aid digestion and gently stimulate detox pathways.
- Silica: Supports tissue repair and regeneration.
- N-Acetyl L-Cysteine (NAC): Replenishes glutathione, the liver's primary antioxidant.
- Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA): Recycles antioxidants, amplifying their protective effect.
