10 Tips To Keep Your Immune System Strong

We are still seeing many clients both in our clinics and virtually who are struggling with their immune systems. It’s normal to get a cough, cold or even a flu once a year but you should be able to kick this within five days & bounce back so you feel strong both mentally and physically soon after.

This lack of bounce back and living with subpar, mediocre health is not acceptable and you can reset and restore your immune system! Long COV-D is real and many are still to this day are suffering. It is really important to be intentional to keep your immune system strong and reset it back into optimum if you're struggling. It’s imperative to boost your immune system and sow in daily so you stay strong with simple lifestyle hacks that I personally embrace and coach our clients both in clinic and on our Rejuv Wellness Retreats .

In fact, I have been so moved by clients suffering from long COV-D and weakened immune systems, I have launched a new formula this week called Spike Protect. Food is medicine so we always start there and we at Rejuv always look at you holistically with our 7 Pillars of Wellness. One pillar does include supplementation for after specialising in functional medicine for 25 years I see that most clients are struggling not from the fuel/diet they are eating but because their 11 systems are not functioning well.

Whole food plant based supplements that are bioavailable work with your body to deliver at a cellular level (just like foods do). The main difference is that eating the volumes of immune boosting ingredients you need to be in optimum health is hard, especially due to over farming for our food simply not containing the nutrition that it once did.

How do you know if a supplement has bioavailable ingredients? It’s easy, the ingredients will list herbs, plants, botanicals and real food & not just a list of synthetic vitamins & minerals. Aim for a supplement that is Antiviral, Antibacterial, packed full of key antioxidants & herbs to support immune & lung function when looking to restore your immune system.

Here are my favourite go-to’s, which I've been educating my clients about, including Millie Mackintosh over the past year, which work like magic to keep your immune system strong.

 

1. Keep Your Immune System Strong with Healing Soup

 My Granny’s homemade organic chicken & veggie soup. When feeling under the weather, we take this soup daily till we feel better. Generally, I make up a batch once or twice a month to keep our immune systems supported as a lifetstyle hack too.

2. Hydrate with natural electrolytes

Drink 2L of Rejuv Wellness Water per day to boost hydration with natural electrolytes including Celtic sea salt, lime and many more ingredients. Best to have this warm or room temperature, not ice cold. 

3. Embrace food as medicine

Boosting your immune system involves maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet rich in essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Organic colourful living plants is the fastest way to boost your immune system but some find this tricky due to IBS systems with the insoluble fibre. If this is you eat more steamed veggies, soups and stews till your gut heals. 4. Use Whole food Supplements

My kids are taking our Rejuv Immune Boost Pack with vegan capsules loaded with superfoods to give their immune systems the tools they need to clear all bugs. These capsules are filled with organic turmeric, rose hips, elderberry, medicinal mushrooms & many other superfoods, and my kids take 1 of each before breakfast or dinner. 

As adults, my husband and I are taking our Rejuv Immune Restore Pack as this gives us extra good bacteria support for our gut & vitamins D & K – which we know has often been the defining component of why some get the symptoms of viruses way more than others. We take 2 of each before breakfast or dinner and always 1 hour away from coffee. If your body has what it needs it can fight off any bacteria or virus for you are wired to be well.

5. Embrace Mindfulness

Moving through your day from stress / emergency mode depletes your immune system for the body doesn't know the difference between a stressful life event and your life really being in danger. The physiological reactions are the same; heart rate goes up, adrenaline and cortisol is released, vasoconstriction occurs (incase you get injured) and your body goes into fight or flight mode. 6. Drink Green Juice

Drink 500ml of cool or room temperature (not ice cold) veggie juice once per day with celery, cucumber, romaine lettuce, lemon, lime, and ginger, and add a super greens like our Rejuv Super Greens Powder to give that extra immune boosting kick with 45 super greens, herbs, seeds, pre and probiotics medicinal mushrooms and enzymes. You can also just add super greens powder to water if you're time poor as a great fast track. 

7. Salt Baths 

Do a full bath, or at least a foot bath with 1 cup of Sea Salt, Epsom Salts or Magnesium Flakes once or twice a week and soak for at least 30 minutes to help support your detox pathways and to calm your nervous system which has a lovely knock on effect on your immune system.

8. Heal your gut

Reduce inflammation & keep sugar, dairy, gluten, junk foods and alcohol as treats. Increase all warm foods, liquids, and soups. Add brown rice or quinoa or gluten-free bread if you feel like you need the comfort of carbohydrates but always choose organic butter or olive oil, never margarine. 9. Boost Essential Oils

Essential Oils not only smell great but are linked to reducing stress and are great for reducing airborne viruses and bacteria. Essential oils are concentrated extractions from plants through a process called distillation which makes this a concentrate, so only a few drops are needed to have an immense impact.

My favourite immune-boosting ones are frankincense, lemon balm, eucalyptus, tea tree oil, lavender, clove, chamomile, lemon balm, bergamot, and geranium & Olbas oil. In fact lavender, chamomile and lemon balm are so powerful I also added them to my Rejuv Stress and Sleep Support capsules to reduce stress, anxiety and encourage deep healing sleep.

10. Boost Sleep 

Most people don’t realise that excessive WiFi and electricity in general negatively impacts your immune system. Since we as humans are over 60% water we are greatly affected by WiFi and EMF. So turn your WiFi off at night and try to get your barefoot on the earth most days to boost your negative grounding ions and clear excessive EMF/WiFi positive ions, which work against the body. 

With most of us marinating in wifi each day our sleep circadian rhythms can get out of balance so I've added some tech to my night time routine to calm my nervous system and encourage deep healing sleep. Each night I spend 30 minutes on the Therasage PEMF Mat level 1 or 3 to support my body's ability to wind down and support all 4 stages of sleep. Plus it's brilliant to boost your immune system, energy levels, detox pathways, lymphatic system and reduce inflammation.
