I’ve never been a big breakfast girl, but I love an energy filled, nutritious breakfast smoothie packed with fresh natural flavours - especially after my morning exercise!
I always start my day with water and my special mix of wellness water during exercise but for brunch or a post-exercise snack, smoothies are great as they are pre-digested being in smoothie form.
Supergreen Smoothie With Tropical Pineapple & Papaya
One of my favourite smoothies is to combine fresh pineapple and papaya with a few of the original supplements I formulated for Elle Macpherson and WelleCo. namely The Super Elixir and the Vanilla Nourishing Protein.
Not only does this taste delicious it also gives you all the essential daily nutrients combined with clean vegan protein and a boost in digestive enzymes.
Add The Flavour & Benefits Of Pineapple & Papaya
The benefits of pineapple include vitamin C to boost your immune system. Manganese to help with bone formation, immune response and metabolism. Fibre to support a healthy gut. Several B vitamins, including thiamin, niacin, B6 and folate to help your body process energy from the food you eat. Pineapple also contains several minerals your body needs for proper function, including copper, potassium and magnesium.
Not only does the Papaya taste good, it is loaded with antioxidants that can reduce inflammation, fight disease, and help keep you looking young. The fruit is high in vitamins C and A, as well as fibre and healthy plant compounds. It contain healthy antioxidants known as carotenoids your body absorbs these beneficial antioxidants better from papayas than other fruits and vegetables. Papaya may work by reducing free radicals that contribute to cancer.
Essential Ingredients Of The Pineapple & Papaya Smoothie
Adding fresh pineapple and papaya to your breakfast protein supergreen smoothie adds to the benefits of the supergreen and protein powders.
Here are the ingredients I use to boost my immune system and reduce inflammation:
- 1/2 -1 cup of water
- 2 tsp of The Super Elixir powder by WelleCo.
- 1/4 -1/2 Papaya depending on the size of the papaya. Pick a ripe papaya for the best flavour and texture. It should be slightly soft and mostly yellow. For extra gut healing and parasite fighting benefits you can blitz the seeds in the blender as well.
- 1 cup of chopped fresh pineapple. Choose a good one by smelling it. It should have a fruity, sweet scent near the base. Drained, canned pineapple chunks can work in a pinch.
- 1 cup of unsweetened plant milk such as Almond or oat milk – I prefer non-dairy almond milk, but you can use any that you like to drink.
- 1 tsp of ground flaxseed. This can be bought ground, or as whole seeds that you can grind yourself. They’re high in fibre and Omega-3’s and have a great nutty flavour.
- 1 tbsp WelleCo. Vanilla Nourishing Protein powder.
- 1 tsp of Coconut oil. A little bit of Coconut oil makes your smoothie more filling and nutritious because it helps your body process all those amazing ingredients better! And it smells delicious!
- Ice cubes
Blend & Garnish with a slice of fresh pineapple!
Enjoy your breakfast in a cup!
